Paul and Pauline McBride

From the wilds of Rajasthan, to the quiet beech wood valleys of Luxembourg Paul and Pauline have been creating  gardens for over 30 years. Now back in the fertile Wealden plains of  West Sussex  they have created their beautiful Sussex Prairies Garden together.

Inspired by their time working in Luxembourg with the world renowned Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf, Paul and Pauline have put their own very British twist on the Dutch new wave perennial style of planting in their own garden here at Sussex Prairies.

Underlying the creative flair of the pair lies Paul’s professional horticultural training gleaned from his years at Auchincruive horticultural College in Ayr, Scotland and invaluable experience  gained  by his work with Unwins Seeds, the National Trust for Scotland and finally the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in France. Coupled with Pauline’s artistic flair  and experience gained from working with their plants  in the garden, you are bound to meet them both in the garden, nursery  or teashop on any visit to the garden.

"We are committed to creating extraordinary natural gardens;  the plants we use and the locations we touch.

We will dare to disturb the universe."
