Prairie Hens in Paper Kilns

Get into the swing of this week’s paper theme at the Sussex Prairies by making a piece of ceramics and building your very own kiln made of paper!

This workshop is divided into two parts : During the first afternoon you will learn handbuilding and decorating techniques to make a hen out of clay. Time permitting we will also make a start on making the paper kilns.

On the second day we will focus on making simple kilns out of paper and fire the hens made during the first session in these kilns. The finished hens can be retrieved from the kilns at the very end of the day.

Dates: 1 June 2014; 1pm-4.30pm & 8 June 2014; 10.30am-5pm (1hr lunch break)
Cost: £95, includes all material costs and free tea and coffee in the afternoon on 8 June 2014

What to bring: It would be useful to bring an apron or an old shirt as some of the clay may stain your clothes , and the ink from the newspaper we will be working with may also stain. Please also bring as many old newspapers as you can get your hands on, the big ones are the best!!

Food: Teas, coffees and homemade cakes will be available to buy from the teashop. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the garden ! On 8th June free tea and coffee will be served to you.

If you would like to attend the workshop please fill out the booking form and send it with your payment to Sabine Dahn, 22 Leahurst Court Road, Brighton BN1 6UL.
