On behalf of our Hort. Soc., may I say how much we enjoyed our very entertaining visit on Wednesday to your spectacular Prairie Garden. We were lucky that the rain held off and the wind blew the lovely grasses around. It was such fun being able to get right into the plantings and we all admired your fore-sight, design and jolly hard work in creating such an unusual garden.
We will spread the word to those members who missed the trip and several of those who did come have said that they would like to return slightly earlier in the season, so you will probably see us again!
We also enjoyed the delicious tea in the shelter of the barn, so please thank everyone, including Paul for making us so welcome.
On behalf of Surrey Gardens Trust thank you both so much for hosting our group yesterday and for making it such an informative and enjoyable visit.
The garden was looking wonderful and all admired it. People who thought they didnt much like prairie style planting changed their minds.
Your garden is truly inspirational
Thank you both for the most wonderful afternoon spent both in your company and in your garden. Our group, unfamiliar with the 'prairie' style, were completely stunned by the beauty and the maturity of the garden. Few people had ever seen anything like it and found themselves totally captivated by such a unique garden. Many found themselves discovering plants they either did not know or were unused to seeing in such innovative and exciting combinations. Even our driver said he will be recommending Sussex Prairies as an addition to his coach company's 'Summer Day Out' offering! The passion you have for your garden is obvious and your enthusiasm for prairie planting is infectious - by the time we left many had become total converts to the style.
Every piece of feedback has been positive: along with the striking plantings many mentioned the warm welcome you gave our group and the fantastic and delicious selection of home-made cakes on offer in the tearoom. Here is a snippet from just one of the emails I received this morning:
'loaded with ideas, and amazing capacity to innovate ... their revelations captivated us all and finally his setting fire to it at the end of the season was breath taking – we really enjoyed the tea and cake break and time to explore'.
The experience we had at Sussex Prairies really has made even the most seasoned gardeners within our group return home and look at their plots with fresh eyes. I am sure you will see many of us again next year, and the year after, and the year after that!
