Plant of the month

Amsonia tabernaemontana var. salicifolia.

Amsonia tabernaemontana var. salicifolia .

Amsonia tabernaemontana var. salicifolia

Although this plant grows slowly it eventually forms solid clumps with elongated willowy leaves for  fabulous texture. The flower stems of the plants we have at Sussex prairies are a beautiful purple blue in spring/early summer, Check our variety out and compare it to other amsonias you may have seen ! This plant produces abundant racemes of steel blue star shaped flowers followed by attractive oblong seeds. The colour in the autumn of the leaves is stunning. This plant can also tolerate some shade. It is an all round winner for us !
