Emma was born in Andover, Hampshire in 1971 but moved to Mid Wales as an infant. Her interest in mythology and history of Wales echoes in her work through imaginative narratives of sea and land and a sense of the wild.
She studied Fine Art in Cardiff at the University of Wales between 1991 and 1994 with one foot in the painting studios but gravitating to the warmth of the printmaking studios. Her work embodied the two disciplines with large scale collagraphs produced with layers of paint, carborundum and savagely cut to integrate intaglio and relief printmaking.
Emma has worked as a secondary Art teacher with a focus on GCSE and A Level in a highly successful Art department in Sussex and held the position of Head Of Art for five years before leaving to focus on her family and printmaking.
Her wealth of experience and expertise in education has inspired countless students and they, in turn, have opened her eyes to the joys of returning to her own creativity.
