Batik Wax Resist and hand Painting using Natural Dyes

with Textile Artist & Teacher Susan D’souza

1-2 day workshop Wednesday 30^th June / Thursday 1^st July 10.00-3.00

Day 1

• Introduction to batik techniques, equipment and materials
• Using inspiration from the gardens create a range of suitable marks, patterns and design ideas with tutor guidance
• Experiment with a range of styles and colours to produce a series of creative samples on paper and fabric
• Review and discuss the results and direction for a larger more focused piece on day 2

Day 2

• Create a design plan for a cotton or silk scarf or panel
• Work on a larger piece with more time and focus to develop your skills and work with colour and natural dyes re-waxing and over-dyeing to create a layered and beautiful final piece

2 day workshop total cost £140 per person including materials or £75 to do day 1 only

Susan is an experienced college and University textile lecturer who makes and exhibits textile artwork with a focus on colour, detail and seasonal shifts in nature.
