Sussex Prairie Garden is open until 13th October 2024. Our opening days and hours are wednesday to sunday . 1pm until 5pm . Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays . Dogs are welcome.
Our next super Event will be our Beautiful and Useful Craft Fair this coming weekend 14th and 15th September - 11am until 5pm - expect over 30 exhibitors all set in a glorious garden setting . Delicious refreshments , live music ,art exhibition , plant sale and of course homemade cake. Dogs very welcome !
A relaxed creative workshop suitable for both those with no previous experience of batik as well as those with more experience who may want to extend their skills, or work with guidance on a personal project.
This workshop will introduce a range of tools, techniques and surface pattern approaches to applying molten wax as a resist, followed by hand painting with dyes including an opportunity to experiment with some natural plant dye extracts. We will take Inspiration from the beautiful array of patterns and colours to be found within the gardens.
You will create a range of experimental samples on paper and fabric which can be used as sketch book samples or may wish to work on a larger piece to frame.

Susan is currently Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Textile Design Degree at GB Met Northbrook College, a member of Pure Arts Group and The Batik Guild and has taught workshops at Sussex Prairie Gardens since 2016.
