This 2 day workshop provides the opportunity to explore creative batik (a wax resist technique). You will experiment with a range of tools and methods for applying the hot wax to paper, cotton and silk fabrics. Colour will then be hand painted with natural plant based dye extracts or dipped in a dye pot. Use plants from the garden or your own images to inspire pattern and texture that will work successfully in your batiks.
On Day 1 you will produce a range of experimental samples on paper and fabric for sketchbooks, or to frame as small cards / artwork.
On Day 2 you will work on a larger piece that could take the form of a hand painted wall hanging or silk scarf.
No previous textile painting or batik experience is necessary this is a relaxed and creative textile workshop. Those with more experience are welcome to use the session to develop and extend their own ideas and learn new approaches with tutorial guidance.
Cost: £75 for day 1 only or £140 for both days, including tea, coffee & biscuits, all materials plus garden entry. For more information and to secure or book a place on this workshop please contact Susan via e-mail or phone:
