Dragonfly & Dreamcatchers with Hedges & Hurdles
JOIN US FOR A FUN-FILLED DAY OF WILLOW WEAVING

There is something about working with Willow that is very relaxing and mindful as you have to concentrate on the task in hand.

In this full-day or half-day workshop, set in the picturesque location of Sussex Prairies you will spend time with Lorraine and learn how to weave a Dragonfly and/or Dream Catcher.

All we need is a selection of Willow Withies for weaving a pair of sharp secateurs and the desire to learn something new!

Access to the breathtaking Prairie Gardens is included in your ticket and refreshments and delicious cakes can be purchased from the Tea Rooms.

Waitlist

Please either sign up to our Waitlist to register your interest in this event or puchase a ticket. We will ensure we continue to follow all new Government guidelines relating to social distancing etc. that are in place at the time of this event.

Suitability

All activities are suitable for teenagers and adults or supervised children aged 8 yrs and up. If a child is joining unsupervised they will need to be 13yrs or older. Children aged 8 yrs to 12 yrs are to be supervised by one adult at all times. There is no cost for the supervising adult if the adult is not participating by making an independent craft.

DRAGONFLY OR MAYFLY!

To make your Dragonfly (or Mayfly) you will be using pre-soaked Willow, either brown Willow (this Willow has been dried before then soaking to rehydrate, we have various types and colours) or buff the (also dried before rehydrating but the bark has been removed, this reveals a honey colour rod).

DREAM CATCHERS

In our afternoon workshop, you will create your very own, unique Dream Catcher! You will first make a Willow wreath base and once complete learn how to weave a web using twine in a colour of your choice! We will have lots of different jewels and feathers for you to use to decorate your dream catcher!

Willow weaving is a fun and mindful activity suitable for both adults, teenagers and the activities we have available here for children aged 8+ (with help from their guardian).

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear comfortable, outdoor clothing and footwear. You may also wish to bring a pair of gloves, to protect your hands and your own secateurs if you have them. However, don’t worry we will have some spare gloves and secateurs for you to use on the day if you don’t have your own.

We do have shelter to move to if we get a shower on the day.

Wonderful garden well worth a visit. Great variety of plants showing so many ways of portraying a garden layout. Must comment on the great tea and cakes selection, our dog loved the doggy ice cream!

Beautifully planted area, in which you are encouraged to walk along paths between the plants so can be completely surrounded by foliage - a lovely effect.
