Draw, Ink, Paint – a 3 day workshop with Katie Sollohub

Wednesday 20th August 2025 - Friday 22nd August 2025 | 9:30am - 2:00pm

Draw, Ink, Paint – a 3 day workshop with Katie Sollohub
Immerse yourself in the Prairie Gardens at their best, in the height of their summer growth, as the seed heads are starting to form. Spend the first day making large charcoal, followed by a day of ink, moving into paint and mixed media on the final day.
You will be guided through drawing and meditation processes and warm up exercises to awaken your senses. Looking for structure, colour, line, movement and texture, listening to the sounds and natural rhythms of the garden, you will be encouraged to make expressive drawings and paintings by building up layers and allowing your work to change and grow.
Drawing with charcoal is a wonderful way to get to know the subject, and find out what you are most interested in, before venturing into colour. All can be moved, changed, built up in layers and glazes of transparent colour, with marks evocative of the multitude of textures and sounds of the garden.
You may work on many pieces over the 3 days, or focus on one particular area and really make substantial studies. You will be working on paper, so you can be free and experimental, as if they were pages of a large sketchbook. You can expect to go home with plenty of inspiration to work from and propagate your ideas after the course.

Cost: £240  some materials provided ,includes garden entry fee, tuition, refreshments and studio space 9am – 2pm with access to the garden, and limited studio space available all day until 5pm
