From Sketchbooks Into Paint-5 day creative retreat with artist & meditation teacher Katie Sollohub

Wednesday 20th September 2023 - Sunday 24th September 2023 | 9:00am - 2:00pm

From Sketchbooks Into Paint-5 day creative retreat with artist & meditation teacher Katie Sollohub

Imagine, 5 days immersed in this beautiful garden
2 days working in a sketchbook, a space to play and experiment, mixing mark making
with observation. 3 days painting where you will be encouraged to bring a similarly
exploratory approach with your materials (acrylic and gouache work best with mixed
media, oils an option if you are familiar with them)
This course uses meditation as an integral part of the creative process, focusing on
drawing and painting as an experience, increasing your sense of connection to the visual
and sensory world.
This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the gardens at their best – whatever the
weather – when the grasses are in full height, the seed heads are already forming, and the
late flowers still in bloom.
Using the breath and meditation to relax, settle in to the space can help reduce anxiety,
and remove obstacles in your creative process, giving you the courage to keep playing,
take risks, let go, find your own limits. See what grows in the garden of your creativity!
Time: 9am – 2pm each day (with access to the garden untutored 2pm – 5pm)
Cost: £395 (includes garden entry fee, sketchbook, hot drinks and biscuits 9am-2pm)
Booking: email for payment details or pay direct
£75 deposit will secure a place
phone Katie on 07905244623 for info

Wonderful garden well worth a visit. Great variety of plants showing so many ways of portraying a garden layout. Must comment on the great tea and cakes selection, our dog loved the doggy ice cream!

Beautifully planted area, in which you are encouraged to walk along paths between the plants so can be completely surrounded by foliage - a lovely effect.
