Sussex Prairie Garden is now closed for the winter
1 day course – Friday June 16th OR Friday September 15th 9.30am – 2pm
A relaxing, experimental course making flower and seed heads in felt and fabric.
Suitable for beginners or improvers.
Course fee £65 including all materials. Coffee, tea, biscuits will be provided free of charge this year. Cake will still be available in the café and you may wish to bring a sandwich or similar for lunch. Price includes a full day entry into the gardens and you may stay for as long as you like.
What to expect on the day?
Be inspired by the beautiful flowers, seeds and leaves at the Sussex Prairies. Join me for a relaxing day to explore and analyse the colours and shapes of the plants in the garden and then experiment to recreate them in felt or fabric. Make one, or several creations, which could be used as a brooch, embellishment for a bag or hair band, or simply a decorative object. We will learn different methods of fabric manipulation to recreate the petals and centre of the flower and then decorate with simple embroidery stitches and embellishments, which could be as abstract or realistic as you like. Consideration of fabric, such as chiffon, silk or felt and your choice of embellishments like beads or buttons will determine the nature of your creations. This is a fun and relaxing day where you will be taught a range of different skills, with the emphasis on experimenting and problem solving together to work on your own unique designs.
What to bring with you?
You will need to bring your own small sewing kit and embroidery scissors with you. I will bring a range of different felts and fabrics for you to use and experiment with, but you are welcome to bring along some of your own stash if you wish.
