Observational and expessive drawing with ink,
markmaking with homemade ink nibs and sticks,
frottage with rollers and oil pastels resist,
stencilling shadows with gathered grasses.
We will start by creating a zine sketchbook as a starter to explore the media for the day from a single sheet of paper.
We will forage the garden for grasses and plants to work from creating a large mixed media piece using inks and fine layers of collage as a background. Textures and markmaking will be built up with sponging, brush and card to produce layered, patterned and textured surfaces. Frottage and texture collection from the garden will fuel our mixed media approach which will include wax resist.
If you are drawn to the natural form we can also work straight from plants from the Prairies and all our creations will be gathered in a concertina or octopus sketchbook.
This is a workshop for beginners with little drawing skill as well as more confident artists.
Costs: £65 with all materials, tea, coffee and biscuits plus garden entry.
Please email emmaktaylor@hotmail.com or 07540191437 for more details and booking.
