9am to 5pm 14th & 15th Oct 2022

Maximum student number per day, 10 people

A working knowledge of your own camera, what ever your camera is, and lenses, and a TriPod would be of great advantage.

Areas of work to be covered,

Framing,

Understanding Light, the spin of the Earth,

Dealing with a White Sky,

To make Photographs that could have only been made in the garden in which you are working .

To see the Atmosphere of the garden,

To begin to be able to ask yourself the question, What do I want to say about the Garden?

To decide what is the Star of your picture, what is the supporting cast, and what should be pushed out of the frame.

To see what the garden is showing you, to consider what the Garden, Planting, it’s creators are about, then begin to photograph  the individual garden in your own individual way. Which you may need to discover!!!

The day will begin with Coffee and a short talk and a picture show from me,

starting at 09.30 hours

About Clive
“I started Photographing Gardens in the late 70’s, while working on my book on the life of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
I have worked for most of the major garden magazine, I was principle garden Photographer to Country Life Magazine for some 15 years, and 10 years with the Sunday Times Colour Magazine,
My Garden Books published include,English Herb Gardens, English Water Gardens, Curious Gardeners 2 volumes, Remaking of a Garden, The Laskett, with Sir Roy Strong, Houses of the Lake District,Cambridge College Gardens, Secret Gardens of Somerset, and a sequel of the gardens of the South East to be published Sept 22.
I’m a photographic judge for the RHS, and I teach photography to MA architectural students at Oxford Brookes University. was awarded a BEM in the Queen’s New Years Honours list 2018.”
