Fabulous comédie del arte theatre in the garden ! Bring a picnic and enjoy an evening of romping hilarious entertainment in a glorious summer garden !
The brand-new show is ‘Little Lily Harley’ and will begin touring on Saturday 30th May after a private preview on Friday 29th May. It is about the childhood in Lambeth in the 1890’s of Charlie Chaplin. After an appalling childhood full of adversity, in a home for orphans and destitute children and sometimes living on the streets, with a mother who gradually went mad after contracting syphilis and a drunken father who died young (both music hall artistes), Charlie went on to become arguably the greatest film actor ever. How is that possible?
At times heart-breaking and poignant but also full of joy and hilarity, we watch how Charlie & his brother Sydney learn how to deal with a difficult world and triumph over it. Full of music hall songs, poems, playground clapping rhymes and slapstick, it will be a full-on theatre experience.
Tickets will go on sale on The Rudes website from Sunday 1st March –https://www.therudemechanicaltheatre.co.uk/book-tickets/
and in local box offices from 1st April.
