Sussex Prairie Garden is open until 13th October 2024. Our opening days and hours are wednesday to sunday . 1pm until 5pm . Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays . Dogs are welcome.

Our next super Event will be our Beautiful and Useful Craft Fair this coming weekend 14th and 15th September - 11am until 5pm - expect over 30 exhibitors all set in a glorious garden setting . Delicious refreshments , live music ,art exhibition , plant sale and of course homemade cake. Dogs very welcome !

Shibori Tie Dye with Amanda Duke

Course Dates : 13th August 2018 and / or 8th August 2018

Times: 9.45am for a 10am start– 2.00pm each day

 

Monday 13th August Shibori Dye

1-Day course for beginners

Use a variety of resist techniques and an indigo dye vat to make exciting surface patterns on cotton fabric. Make a fabric stash suitable for further textile experiments, stitching, quilting, cushion covers, bags and other craft items.

 

Saturday 8th August Shibori Dye

Day 1 for some or Day 2 for those who wish to extend their experience.

Continue to make Shibori samples or add colour to existing experiments using fabric paints or a combination of both. Options to dye upcycled tee shirts, other white cotton items, scarf blanks or make a supply of fat quarters for quilting or other projects.

 

Costs:

Book 1 or both days. £55 per day.

Special offers – Book 2 workshops pay £100 or book 3 workshops (select from other courses available pay £150. Early bird before May 1st £50, £95, £145. If you wish to purchase a fabric or paper pack from me please add your selected pack(s) to the cost of course and note which pack(s) you wish to order on the booking form.

9.45am – 2pm each day with 1 x 30 minute break.

All dyeing media supplied within cost of course but fabric will need to be purchased.

Enjoy the garden café break with its tempting cakes and sandwiches and free entry to the garden later in the afternoon.

 

One or Two Day Course

This aim of this course is to provide you with the skills to:

  • Use a variety of resist techniques including folding, clamping, stitching, gathering, binding.
  • Make traditional Shibori patterns and invent your own
  • Become confident and able to dye fabric at home
  • Go home with ideas about what you could do with the fabrics you have created
  • Dye a large cotton scarf or other upcycled items
  • Make adaptations to your designs through the addition of colour if you wish

The course is suitable for beginners, adults and those over 12. Any under 16s should be accompanied.

      Wonderful garden well worth a visit. Great variety of plants showing so many ways of portraying a garden layout. Must comment on the great tea and cakes selection, our dog loved the doggy ice cream!

      Beautifully planted area, in which you are encouraged to walk along paths between the plants so can be completely surrounded by foliage - a lovely effect.

      Tea room not brilliant nice cake but coffee in paper cup. No other options other then tea coffee and cake. Opening times short 1 to 5 but gardens beautiful
