Join textile artist and tutor, Esther Collins, for a fun and experimental day of hand stitching using a variety of mixed media. Taking “the garden in bloom” as our theme, we will begin by making a simple background for our embroidery, enhancing our fabric base with paint and pigments. Next, we’ll look at adding small pieces of fabric and paper to build up a simple collaged picture. We’ll explore a range of media, such as painted bondaweb, printing and stamping to build up layers and add to our backgrounds.
Enjoy embellishing further with some beautiful pieces of vintage lace and embroidery, or perhaps some beads and buttons, to enhance the garden theme. There will be a whole range of materials on hand to experiment and play with. You will learn a variety of hand stitches and embroidery techniques, such as couching and making Suffolk Puffs. Create a unique and interesting, lovely mixed media piece, inspired by the natural environment.
Price includes all materials, plus tea, coffee and homemade biscuits and the opportunity to explore the inspiring Sussex Prairies Wild.
