A Prairie Map Book with Anne Kelly

Saturday 22nd June 2024 - Sunday 23rd June 2024 | 10:00am - 1:00pm

A Prairie Map Book with Anne Kelly

In this two-day masterclass with artist, author and tutor Anne Kelly, you will be inspired by map books, using a mixture of paper and cloth, taken from her recent book ‘Textile Travels’. Choose a map of an area near you or a favourite walk or journey and we will transform it into a meaningful and well loved folding book form. You will use elements of printed ephemera from your area or travels and choose thin fabrics that work well with your chosen theme. There are limited spaces and you can book directly with Anne. A 50% non- refundable deposit will be taken when booking.

Before you attend please choose a place or journey that you would like to commemorate in your piece.

Cost £80 per person

Places are limited – to secure your place please contact Anne through her website www.annekellytextiles.com/contact. A materials list will be sent to you closer to the time

Please bring:

-a glue stick
-any non precious copies of images or ephemera (ticket stubs, postcards, maps etc) from a favourite location or vacation. Poetry describing that place or song lyrics would also work
-Choose small scraps or remnants of thin fabrics or papers that complement your colour scheme. Organza and tissue are good, cardboard not so useful.
-An old piece of thin shirting or sheeting in a neutral colour for the base (around 15 x 45 cm max).
-Ribbons, buttons and rubber stamps (including letters for words) can also be used to embellish your piece
-hand stitching kit, embroidery cotton, needles, pins

Wonderful garden well worth a visit. Great variety of plants showing so many ways of portraying a garden layout. Must comment on the great tea and cakes selection, our dog loved the doggy ice cream!

Beautifully planted area, in which you are encouraged to walk along paths between the plants so can be completely surrounded by foliage - a lovely effect.
