Sussex Prairie Garden is open until 13th October 2024. Our opening days and hours are wednesday to sunday . 1pm until 5pm . Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays . Dogs are welcome.
Our next super Event will be our Beautiful and Useful Craft Fair this coming weekend 14th and 15th September - 11am until 5pm - expect over 30 exhibitors all set in a glorious garden setting . Delicious refreshments , live music ,art exhibition , plant sale and of course homemade cake. Dogs very welcome !
Batik painting using natural dyes with Susan D’souza

The garden will provide the source of inspiration for the rhythms and patterns of your sketched designs. The process will be easy for beginners or can be layered in a more complex way for those that have worked with batik before. Using cotton or silk material you will practice using a range of tools to mark a wax resist design onto cloth before exploring hand painting with natural dyes.

Susan is an experienced college and University textile lecturer who makes and exhibits textile art work. Her practical work looks at details in nature and celebrates colour and her research interests include sustainable fashion and textiles.
