This workshop provides the opportunity to explore creative batik (a wax resist technique). Experiment with a range of tools and methods for applying the hot wax to paper, cotton and silk fabrics before hand painting the colour using cold-water reactive dyes and a range of natural plant based dye extracts. Learn how to use natural forms from the garden or your own images as design inspiration to create pattern and rhythm that will work successfully in your batiks. You will produce a range of samples for sketchbooks or can be framed as small pieces of artwork.
No previous textile painting or batik experience is necessary this is a relaxed and creative textile workshop. Those with more experience are welcome to use the session to develop their own ideas and learn new approaches with tutorial guidance.
Cost: £70 including tea, coffee & biscuits, all materials plus garden entry.
