Sussex Prairie Garden Autumn Workshops 2021

Course outline: Collage for the Soul

Costs: £55 per workshop

Collage can be used as a form of self expression to explore hopes and dreams and create visual memoirs. In this workshop we will be using mixed media to create a collage (or two!) ready to be framed which will develop from a personal theme. This year we will be using vintage 1930’s pianola paper as backing and longer strips to work on and manipulate.

We will use fragments of textures and magazine rips to spontaneously layer images and symbols to create narrative. Words, poetry and affirmations can also be used to explore and record relationships and illustrate stories. We will be inspired by varied contemporary artists and will explore a rich variety of themes.

We will use varied techniques including Phototransfer and recycle old pieces of gelliprints and collage materials. Pieces can be constructed to be slightly 3D and framed in a box frame.

This workshop does not require any specific artistic skills other than a playful mind. All materials will be included in the price.

About Emma Taylor
She studied Fine Art in Cardiff at the University of Wales in the early 90’s with one foot in the painting studios but gravitating to the warmth of the printmaking studios. Her work embodies the two disciplines with colla- graphs produced with paint, card and carborundum and cut into integrate intaglio and relief printmaking.
 Emma has worked as an Art teacher for many years with a focus on GCSE and A Level in a highly successful Art department in Sussex and held the position of Head of Art for five years before leaving to focus on her family and printmaking.
Her wealth of experience and expertise in education has inspired countless students and they, in turn, have opened her eyes to the joys of returning to her own creativity.
She has exhibited in several Open Houses and local galleries. She is currently teaching Photography and runs regular classes at her home in Denton as Lupin Cottage Workshops.
