We shall only be open for the one month of August 2025, Indian Summer Bazaar and Sussex Prairies Garden Tour and Cream Tea. Otherwise It’s by appointment – Groups of 15 persons or more (June to October) - Find out more
In this mindful creative workshop, we will explore experimental, slow stitch using the organic forms and ecology within Sussex Prairie Wild as inspiration. We will venture into the gardens to use all our senses as a starting point for doodling with stitch, then continue our mindful journey getting lost in drawing-in-slow-motion with needle and thread.
It is widely recognised that creativity and nature are positive for wellbeing and in this workshop you will learn skills that you can take away and use at home when you need some self-care or ‘me time’. There is a freedom in nature and using your hands to create gives sensory satisfaction, time for reflection and flow, and an enjoyable passing of the time.
Sarah will teach several embroidery stitches, but simple running stitch will be the starting point, and some may choose to just work with this technique. We will also look at different techniques including textile collage, blending and blurring boundaries, and use of colour and texture. Participants will then go on to create an experimental stitch piece inspired by the sensational natural world.
This workshop is kind to the environment as most of the materials provided are reclaimed, making it a truly sustainable creative craft session. It is suitable for all abilities including any creative wishing to expand their skill set.
Workshop Price: £60 includes all materials and garden entry, plus tea / coffee and homemade biscuits. Please bring a packed lunch.
