Join textile artist and tutor, Esther Collins for this “taster day” of mixed media collage. We will begin the day by experimenting with gelli printing, to make a range of materials to use for collage. A Gelli plate is a soft silicone pad, that allows you to easily create stunning prints. You can press different objects, such as leaves, flowers, or household textures onto the plate to create beautiful surface decoration which can be transferred onto paper or fabric.
Next, we’ll be tearing or cutting up our prints and mixing them together, along with Esther’s stash of other interesting materials, to make some pleasing abstract arrangements, which we’ll use as the basis for our collage. Learn the basics of a successful composition and how to add and arrange elements to make an attractive layout. Finish off with some simple hand stitching and embellishing to create some gorgeous small samples, which could become little mixed media greetings cards, or mini art works in their own right.
Price includes all materials, plus tea, coffee and homemade biscuits and the opportunity to explore the inspiring Sussex Prairies Wild.
