Hand Paint Applique & Stitch Textile Art Workshop with Susan D’souza

Saturday 5th August 2023 | 9:30am - 2:00pm

Hand Paint Applique & Stitch Textile Art Workshop with Susan D’souza

This workshop will take inspiration from the gardens, starting with selection of a favourite plant or flower as the focus to create samples for sketchbook records or framing as a small artwork. Experimenting with a mixed media textile approach you will be exploring hand painting using natural dye extracts onto fabric with applique or textile collage to create textured layers before adding hand stitched details. The workshop will include discussion of the key elements of textile design.

No previous textile, painting or sewing experience is necessary this is a relaxed and creative textile workshop. Those with more experience are welcome to use the session to develop their own ideas and learn new approaches with tutorial guidance.

Cost: £70 including tea, coffee & biscuits, all materials plus garden entry.

For more information and to secure or book a place on this workshop please contact Susan via e-mail or phone:

Wonderful garden well worth a visit. Great variety of plants showing so many ways of portraying a garden layout. Must comment on the great tea and cakes selection, our dog loved the doggy ice cream!

Beautifully planted area, in which you are encouraged to walk along paths between the plants so can be completely surrounded by foliage - a lovely effect.
