Tutor: Emma Taylor
Dates: Friday 29th June Times: 9.30am-2pm
Course outline: Printing with Collage (Collagraph printmaking)
Costs: £55 per workshop
We will explore the many exciting possibilities of collagraph printmaking by building up textures and marks with a variety of collage materials on a mount card plate. You will learn how to construct interesting textured printing plates using metallic card, papers and precut pattern pieces as well as tapes and found textures before cutting areas away.
The collagraph plate will then be sealed and dried before being inked using intaglio etching inks and passed through a press with dampened paper. We will explore the wonders of black and white intaglio inking but can also add sensitive intuitive highlights of colour. This is a flexible and inexpensive technique that results in rich, textured prints. Each time the paper is lifted the results are never the same and is always very rewarding. We will be producing two different pieces in a small series in this workshop.
This workshop is suitable for beginners or any artists interested in expanding their printmaking skills.
Please note the slightly earlier starting time of 9.30am as we will need to allow the plates to dry before printing.
All materials will be included in the price.
