Visiting in August - Sussex Prairies Wild

August is the big time for maximum flower impact in our prairie garden. Surrounded by shady mature oak trees the eight acre Sussex Prairie garden consists of a series of interlocking arcs of large planted borders in a naturalistic style. The large borders encourage exploration and adventure and visitors are welcome to roam in amongst the mighty plants to further enjoy the experience.Its time to be immersed in colour and spectacle.

The plantings consist of large groupings of each variety, planted in a free flowing style, which contrasts leaf forms, stems, stalks, flower shapes and textures. Colours are soft and muted, and complement the natural landscape. You can expect swathes of glorious flowers and impressive drifts of billowing grasses – its time to lose yourselves in beauty.

You can buy a day ticket at the gate, but it will cost the full day entry price. Payments can be made by cash or card.

Our teashop will be open selling delicious homemade cakes and icecreams , coffee and tea and there will be fabulous unusual plants available for sale in our plant nursery.

Dogs are always welcome – please bring him or her on a short lead and scoop up any poop ! Dog water available at the teashop and poo bins and poo bags are around the garden for you to use !

You will surely be transported to India when you discover the exciting marquees packed with delights at the Indian Summer Bazaar who will join us for the whole of August – serving some delicious curries for lunch too ! all available for you to enjoy when you visit the garden in August.

* We offer complimentary Carer tickets for visitors who require a carer to accompany them You are still required to pre-book your tickets so we can accommodate everyone coming to the garden. These tickets are exclusively for the use of carers who are accompanying the person they care for to the show. Proof of eligibility is required to use this ticket.

Your “All of August” Ticket will give you unlimited visits to Sussex Prairie Garden during August season – 1st August until 31st August 2025 inclusive during normal opening hours.

Sussex Prairies shall be open Wednesdays through to Sunday during August only, closed Mondays* (except Bank Holiday Monday 25th August when we shall be open ) and Tuesdays. Opening hours are 12 noon until 5pm.

PLEASE NOTE: tickets are day specific, so please double check that you are purchasing for the day you wish to visit.
